Hello everyone! I’d like to welcome you to our meet and greet on behalf of Impart (Formerly MAP Academy). Here, you can introduce yourself and get to know each other.

Our team at Impart has really enjoyed putting together this lecture series with Mayank Mansingh Kaul.

We’re so excited to have a space to engage with our community and we’d love to get to know you better! Feel free to use this space to tell us more about yourself and your interest in the subject. You can also share your expectations from the lectures, resources you may come across, or even larger themes and ideas you’d like to explore.

Hi everyone, I am Prarthana Patil, a design educator and textile enthusiast. I started my journey with textiles when I began teaching indian embroideries, and delved deeper into its origins. Also did a small research project on Kasuti…I am most fascinated by the evolution of textiles! Missed first session…so eager to start today!!

Hi Prarthana. I am a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on textiles. Can you share more regarding your research on Kasuti. My ancestors come from the region that Kasuti is from and I find the style of embroidery fascinating. Would love to hear from you.

Hello to all! I am Una. I’m a transdisciplinary artist, and my work moves across visual art, design, and photography. I’m also passionate about sharing knowledge, so I often work in informal education in those same areas. I am originally from Croatia, but I’m currently living in Slovenia.

One of my big loves is fashion and textiles, especially when they’re made in sustainable and thoughtful ways. Last year, I had the chance to visit India for the first time, and I completely fell in love it, including with the incredible traditional crafts and techniques that enchanted me.

I’m here because I want to dive deeper into these living traditions, learn from them, and better understand the stories and skills behind the craft. I’m really excited to be part of this space with all of you.

I’m currently working on two temporary public art installations that incorporate South Asian mirror embroidery, and I received a grant this year to expand my research-creation on the European-colonial impacts on the Kashmiri shawl industry’s design and production methods. Hello everyone,

I’m Akshita Kashyap, a psychology student with a growing interest in Indian textiles and design. Although I don’t come from a design background, I’ve always been fascinated by the cultural richness and storytelling woven into traditional Indian fabrics—from regional weaves to intricate embroidery styles.

I’m here purely as a learner, eager to understand more about the history, techniques, and contemporary relevance of Indian textiles. I’m especially curious about how textiles reflect identity, emotion, and cultural memory—something I’d also love to explore through a psychological lens.

Excited to learn from all of you and be part of these inspiring conversations!

I’m Meghana, an undergraduate in Textile Technology.

My core interests lie in technical and sustainable textiles, and I’m always eager to explore the intersection of traditional practices and modern innovations. That’s what drew me to this course, to understand the deep history, culture, and context behind Indian textiles, beyond just their surface beauty.

I’m excited to be part of this community and to learn from all of you and the incredible speakers throughout this journey. Looking forward to some enriching discussions! 😊
