Hi this is Akanksha. I have a background in literature and will soon be going into PhD. My interests have stringed and lapped and continues to overlap with images, archives and literature. I have been trying to start from scratch the inquiry into images and what meaning making looks like on that front. I finished the course, and only now stepping into the discussion forum. It was a beautiful journey, travelling through streets, histories, family albums, the cctv buddha and its brilliant imagery. This was a rigorous series, and I look forward to more such sessions ahead. The variety in the trajectory of this image finding band was truly the best thing to close this monsoon. Thankyou IMPART for this lovely opportunity <3

Hello, everyone. My name is Gulzabin Ara. Currently I’m a PhD candidate, doing research on street art. This current lecture series on ‘image complex’ was really helped me alot to understand many things and it widen my boundaries if thinking about images that we almost everyday see, click, watch around us. The impact of photography and images of photos we click or someone else clicks, had diverse effects. Just like ‘oceanic wave theory’, it’s ripples are everywhere. Sometimes, it’s just how we see, and sometimes , it is the same image but looking at it makes the difference. I have learnt alot and it left me with so much to thoughts about.

Over the course of the last few months I have been engaging with photographs taken in colonial contexts of the early 20th century. This series of lectures has been very indulging and has triggered some wonderful lines of thought.

Hi everyone! I’m Tannu, from Rohtak, Haryana, India. I have a fine arts background (B.F.A./M.F.A. in Painting, MDU Rohtak) and I’m currently developing a doctoral proposal on photography, memory, and digital archives — looking at how digitising family photo albums changes the ritual of remembering, especially in the context of migration. Excited to dig into vision and belief in South Asian photography with you all!

Hello, I’m Lauren Fonto, and I’m studying a Master’s degree in Heritage Conservation in South Africa. My dissertation research focuses on cleaning gilded wood with a combination of gel and solvent. I’m also interested in the conservation of books, paper and archival materials.

Greetings Y’all! I’m Pamila (they/them) based in Toronto, Canada (diasporan), born in Birmingham (UK) and rooted in northern India (Bhano Langa and Jalandhar, Panjab). I’m a inerdisciplinary artist, educator and cultural producer working and living in Toronto, Canada and London, UK. Currently finishing up my Master of Visual Studies in Studio Art at the Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at University of Toronto. I’m interested in queering and querying the archive and counter-archiving as an artistic practice. I’m also an visual arts educator in Toronto, teaching visual arts, social sciences and Indigenous Visual Culture from Grades 9 – 12, Secondary School in the Toronto District School Board.
